What is (ME)2 By the Sea?

The (ME)2 By the Sea program consists of sessions ranging from one to two hours. The workshops and sessions will consist of mathematics content and pedagogy appropriate for K-12 mathematics teachers and emphasize curriculum alignment and mathematical engagement for all K-12 students. Outstanding speakers from all over the region submit proposals to present sessions, and a program committee selects sessions most appropriate for the conference. Also, a plenary speaker will be invited to present and to inform participants. Most session presenters will be outstanding, practicing mathematics teachers, who present ideas for teaching that they have found effective in their classrooms.

Many sessions will involve hands-on learning activities that teachers can use in the classroom to address various topics in the mathematics curriculum. Effective use of manipulative materials in the classroom is an important component of the conference, and a number of sessions regarding manipulative use will occur at the conference. Use of technology in classroom instruction will be also an important component of the conference.
