Family Math Night
The philosophy of Family Math Nights is to provide an evening for students and their families to engage in mathematical activities that motivate, intrigue, and offer an activity that can be replicated at home. Each activity station offers a gallon zip bag with instructions and materials to replicate the activity at home.
Each station will have a display board with explanations/instructions. As a family approaches the station, they will read the instructions and engage in the activity with the materials provided. You will need a long table(s) for each station so multiple families can be engaged at the same time. A volunteer (teacher, college student, parent, etc) is at each station to handle questions but the responsibility for starting and completing the activity lies with the parent.
These types of activities can also be used for Math Carnivals, Math Fairs, Activity/Field Days, afterschool programs, etc.
